A disoriented woman found on a street in Norwood, who could not remember who she is, was identified Thursday by a family who spotted her photo on social media, police said.
The woman was found Tuesday in Livingston Street, in the borough, but told the police that she did not know her own name.
Local police and state police have turned to social media, posting his photo on Facebook and Twitter, and urging anyone who can identify him to call investigators.
Norwood police said the mystery was resolved when the woman's daughter saw the job and called the authorities.
Chief Jeffrey Krapels told NBC New York that the woman had a husband in Arizona and had grown up in Philadelphia. She would have disappeared for six months, according to the report.
His daughters – one in Philadelphia and the other in Nebraska – called the police after learning that the police had posted a message on Facebook, according to the report.
While the police were about to reunite the woman with her family, it was not clear why she was in Norwood or how she had visited the area.
In another strange twist, the police said that the woman had told the police that she was involved in a car accident in the state of Washington about a year ago and that she was walking since the wreck. She also claimed to be a veteran.
The woman, whose name was not disclosed, was taken to the New Bridge Medical Center, authorities said.
