The US Postal Service reports that hundreds of letters destined for Philadelphia residents were deposited on the edge of a New Jersey highway when the responsible carrier left his job.

A man from New Jersey made the strange discovery Sunday morning in Pennsauken. The man posted a photo of the missing mail on Facebook.

A special agent from the Office of the Inspector General of US Postal Services told NBC10 that mail was due to be delivered on August 8 from the post office at Roxborough Station. The Roxborough Post Office will deliver the mail.

The mailman who was responsible for the delivery resigned on September 8th. The US Postal Service does not anticipate any further legal action against the former employee.
