South Carolina and Missouri are poised to play a crucial role in the success of Gamecocks this season. As we approach the sendoff, we look at several topics covered in the game. The line has been set, some better than others, and several of our staff and a selected VIP member from TheBigSpur.com make their predictions – more or less?
South Carolina will rush for 175 yards
John Del Bianco: Will Muschamp said all season they trust Michael Scarnecchia with the first team offense, his knowledge of the system and his ability to distribute football. However, I find it hard to believe that the ground game is not the main objective, while the alternate quarterback plays the role of "game manager". The Gamecocks have run the ball well in the last two weeks. With probably more ground games than in the air to keep the Missouri offensive on the sidelines, I think they can reach that goal. MORE THAN
Hale McGranahan: Opponents have rushed for just over 102 yards per game this season against the Missouri defense, which is a little surprising given the weakness of this side of the ball for the Tigers in the past two years. South Carolina will probably want to run the ball early and often the Saturdaybut it will be difficult for the Gamecocks to exceed 175 yards. BELOW
John Whittle: South Carolina will have no choice but to run the football, and if Dakereon Joyner enter the game, he will help with that. The offensive line has been doing its job all year long. The question will be whether or not the group can remain on the field and recover the first attempts. BELOW
3pt0: Ugh. I'm so bad at it. That's what she's involved I hope the stable gathers around the QB situation. MORE THAN
dressmaker: I think if Jake is absent or questionable, we will commit to leading the game. I also think we're using more zone reading material when Joyner comes in, so I think we're just going to make football work more. MORE THAN
Drew Lock will throw for 250 yards
JDB: With his experience, a target like Emmanuel Hall's, two big tight ends and a confident group of halfbacks, I think Lock can reach that figure in his sleep. He has averaged 274 yards per game against USC in the last two years. While the Gamecocks will go well with him, he totals the total yards, but the total number of touchdowns he throws to the ground must remain low to get a home win. Lock has two touchdowns in four interceptions in the last two years in this game. MORE THAN
HM: Missouri has shown he is more involved in running with three records, so Lock may not have as many opportunities to let him fly. More. I think South Carolina will do their best to get the ball out a bit and try to keep the Tigers offense out of the way. BELOW
JW: Lock was above that figure a year and slightly below once against the Gamecocks. I feel he will end his career on a high note. He may not have numbers similar to those he has against teams who did not participate in a conference, but I think it's more likely that the 3 is the first total number of yards for past. MORE THAN
3pt0: It is a difficult line. It is quite possible that Mizzou takes the lead and tries to play the clock. I was wrong before … a little bit actually, but I'm going MORE THAN.
dressmaker: Lock is not afraid to push the ball vertically and he has one of the best deep balls in the SEC, if that is the country. In addition, we have not been spared from giving up the big game and there could be some with this Missouri offense. MORE THAN
JDB: If it does not work in early attack Bryan McClendon may want to use his first-year quarterback in some specific package games. Aside from the Chattanooga match, the moment is always so good to put at least the # 7 on the field and use his legs, if not his arm. However, eight games with the ball in his hands is too much for me to predict the whole thing. I think it's only reaching this target as it actually replaces Scarnecchia. BELOW
HM: I can not imagine they'll throw it in the fire, but I see Joyner doing some shots here and there. I do not know if it will look like an entire series. Maybe some clichés here and there, to keep the defense of Missouri out of balance. BELOW
JW: Bentley is very likely for the match. We'll see how Scarnecchia behaves, but I get the impression that the staff is finding a way to bring Joyner into the game more than eight shots. MORE THAN
3pt0: It will be important for the Gamecocks to gain time with the current game. I think you have to see what he can do. He will probably make a red shirt. MORE THAN
dressmaker: I do not know if I think he'll get more than eight shots, but the fan in me just wants that to be true. Ha! MORE THAN
Defense will allow 25% conversions to the third
JDB: This is an impressive figure for Gamecocks' defense. Kentucky was 3 -11 on the third try last week. Although I think they will continue to be successful, it's hard to say that a Missouri attack that moves the ball at this point will struggle to move the strings to third place. MORE THAN
HM: Missouri converts more than 66% of its third declines and South Carolina opponents convert to 25%. The Tigers will probably be between these two numbers. MORE THAN
JW: The defense has done a remarkable job this year in this category, but the odds of a draw are higher this week with the tempo that Missouri runs and the inevitable struggles of the Gamecocks offensive. MORE THAN
3pt0: Prove me the contrary. MORE THAN
dressmaker: In fact, we were good in the third downhill, but we just were not very good to get in third. But I expect the third to be relatively long and that we have shown until now that we can leave the field. BELOW
Teams will combine for 64 points
JDB: Of the two teams, Missouri is more likely to be in the top 30 in this game, but I do not think that's the case. I think Carolina's defense will get some key saves and force goals on the court. Missouri usually scores and it turns out to be a match in the mid-40s for total points. BELOW
HM: Without their starting quarterback, the Gamecocks could have trouble scoring points, even if the opponent of this weekend does not have the strongest defense, especially against the pass. In good health Jake Bentley would cut the Missouri high school. Scarnecchia could. May be. Who knows? We have never seen this guy at another time in his career. BELOW
JW: Las Vegas has defined this course of action and that's what I do every week. If I were a betting man, I would drop a C note here. I do not think Missouri will be 50 years old, nor has South Carolina scored more than two touchdowns. BELOW
3pt0: South Carolina plays lousy football. MORE THAN
knedsmith: I do not like the fact that we are starting a red shirt and a real freshman. I also think we're going to run the ball pretty often and slow down the game a bit because of the Missouri explosion. BELOW
Current ranking
In the four weeks of the season, the ranking could not have been much tighter. Davidwatson249, who was the only one to correctly choose the Gamecocks, would not have forced two turnovers last week. Rotten Tomato to Whittle for talking too hard about her curse in the past two weeks and returning to the land. Hale is back in the country after a week of points. It's everybody's game now! … This week, Matt NeSmith, SEC Champion Golfer and TBS Member, joins us for a round.
JDB: 2 for 5, 11 for 20
HM: 3 for 5, 10 for 20
JW: 1 for 5, 11 for 20
3pt0: 3 for 5, 10 for 20 in all
TBS members: 2 for 5, 10 for 20
