July 8, 2015 was supposed to be "one of the most important" in Marc Rubin's life.
He had planned to make a proposal to his girlfriend in front of Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World, where the couple, her children and one of their friends had just watched Magic Kingdom's night parade.
Instead, Rubin was found in jail. He is now suing the park for false imprisonment and accuses Disney of spoiling his special day.
This is how the 57-year-old woman said that the night was spent in the court records reported for the first time by the Orlando Sentinel and filed at the end of September.
Rubin, from Suffolk County, New York, has found the perfect place to propose. But then, a Disney employee came to ask him to move.
He added that he had asked if he could wait for the return of the daughter's concession from his girlfriend and his girlfriend because he was afraid of losing sight of the 16-year-old. The employee insisted that he leave immediately.
According to an incident report from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, a 24-year-old Disney employee said that Rubin was so angry when she asked him to step back three feet from the parade route . his collar and screamed in his face. Threatens[ed] hit her in the face, "says the report.
She called her supervisor, who said he did not see Rubin seize the employee, but saw him swear. He was arrested and charged for disorderly conduct, reported Orlando Sentinel, to whom he pleaded no challenge.
Rubin admits that he started arguing with the employee, but maintains that he only shouted.
In the lawsuit, Rubin insisted that it did not affect the employee and accused Disney of "falsely reporting a criminal act".
He added that the park had never provided video of the incident nor interviewed family members.
"The safety of the people who work and visit our parks is very important to us," said a Disney spokeswoman at the Sentinel. "We will respond to the allegations, if any, in court."
Rubin finally married his girlfriend. In the suit, she is called his wife.
