After a match 1 that saw the Astros easily win 7-2 over the Indians, the two teams will meet in Houston for Game 2 of ALDS on Saturday, October 6th.
Astros, the reigning Wolrd Series champion, will send Gerrit Cole to the mound for his fourth playoff start and first in the American League. He went 15-5 this season and posted a 2.88 ERA to go with 276 strikeouts. It was the third season of his career, he pitched at least 200 innings and the second time he was named star player. Saturday will be Cole's first post-season game since he has allowed four points in five innings in a loss to the Cubs in the wild card NL in 2015.
The Indians will start Carlos Carrasco, who won no decision in his previous start for the Yankees after last season. Carrasco made 5 2/3 innings and allowed only three hits and three walks, while taking seven strikeouts, but Cleveland lost the match 1-0. This season, Carrasco teamed up 17-10 with an average of 3.38 points. His 231 career goals were a career high and his 192 innings were the second highest mark of his career.
After this contest, the series will pivot to Cleveland for the third game on Monday, October 8th.
