PORTLAND, ORLAND (KOIN) – A group of 150 to 200 people gathered Saturday night in the honor of a man shot by police in downtown Portland last weekend.

Protesters are once again present in downtown Portland to denounce the fatal murder of a 27-year-old man by the Portland police last weekend.

Patrick Kimmons was shot dead after police said he was involved in another shootout causing two injuries. The police did not say he had shot anyone.

Police said a firearm had been found near Kimmons and that several had been found near the scene of the initial shooting.

Mercedes Morgan, who shares children with Kimmons, told KOIN 6 News that he was leaving a daughter and two sons.

"He was a good guy, he had three babies that he had to raise and change his life," Morgan said. "He was a father at the end of the day, so we will miss him."

His daughter, Heaven, was walking Saturday, holding a sign with a photo that someone drew from her and her father.

Protesters began blocking traffic on SW Harvey Milk Street and Oak Street, where Kimmons was shot. TriMet MAX traffic was also hit Saturday afternoon due to the march.

Officers ask drivers to avoid the area.

Kimmons' mother said she wanted the protests to continue for the next 30 days, until the grand jury.
