An Indian bus driver was suspended for letting a monkey "drive" his bus.
This despite the fact that no more than 30 passengers aboard the vehicle in the south of Karnataka State complained about their furry driver.
However, when a video of the langur monkey relaxed – and seemingly competent – driving became viral, the employers of the human driver shifted to action.
Passenger safety can not be endangered by "leaving a monkey on the steering wheel," a spokesman said.
Not surprisingly, this decision was not quite popular with Internet users excited about the short clip.
"So nice, why suspend, he should have been warned not to repeat that," tweeted Parag Heda.
The incident occurred on Monday, according to the government's road transport company – who only learned of the unusual actions of the driver after the video's viral spread.
According to witnesses, the monkey boarded the vehicle with another passenger, but refused to sit anywhere else in front because the bus bypassed Davanagere.
The driver, named M Prakash, seemed not to care about the turn of events, allowing his new friend to sit on the wheel while they continued their journey.
In all fairness to Mr. Prakash, he seems to have a hand on the steering wheel at all times. And for the sake of fairness towards the monkey, he seems to be paying attention to the road ahead – although he is unsure of whether he has mastered the mirrors.
According to reports, the monkey finally reached his destination and let the driver continue his day.
