The government has officially seized several holdings of Paul Manafort, including Trump Tower 's 43G unit, after the Trump campaign chairman has agreed to confiscate various property and bank accounts as part of the deal. an advocacy agreement signed last month with special advocate Robert Mueller.

In a document filed Friday, Mueller asked a federal judge in Washington, DC, to grant the government "full and exclusive custody and control" over nine assets previously owned by Manafort.

Mr. Mueller wrote that three of Manafort's properties in New York and four bank accounts were to be handed over to the government "immediately", adding that two other properties – the Trump Tower apartment and its vast Long Island mansion – will have to change hands from here on October 20th. .

Manafort concluded an advocacy agreement with the Mueller team in September in the Washington case, agreeing to acknowledge his guilt under two counts of conspiracy against the United States, related to financial crimes, to the tampering with witnesses and the registration of foreign agents. Manafort also agreed to cooperate with Mueller, himself and his team of prosecutors continuing to investigate Russia's interference in the 2016 election.

As part of that deal, Manafort pleaded guilty to ten related federal charges in Virginia, for which a jury was unable to reach a consensus at a trial in August. The jury had already found him guilty of eight counts in the Virginia case.

The agreement marked a turning point in the Mueller investigation, providing prosecutors with a first-hand account of one of Trump's oldest former campaign advisers – a person familiar with the inner workings of the campaign during the months 2016. Manafort also participated in the current debate. The notorious meeting of the Trump Tower, during which a Russian lawyer came to New York and met with Trump's senior advisers during the campaign, after the middlemen promised to "dirty" the Democratic opponent of Trump.
