Camilla Parker Bowles is skipping Princess Eugenie’s wedding in favour of a school harvest festival near her home in Scotland.
It appears the Duchess of Cornwall will be the only senior royal missing when Eugenie weds Jack Brooksbank at St George’s Chapel on Friday.
Eugenie’s parents Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson had hoped to persuade her to attend the lavish wedding which was announced eight months ago, it is said.
But Camilla, 71, had agreed to attend the school event before Eugenie, 28, and Mr Brooksbank, 32, confirmed the date, it is claimed.
A source denied claims that the Duchess was snubbing the couple on their big day at Windsor Castle, saying the school even had been agreed to earlier.
The source told Mirror Online: “I would not view it as a snub. It was a long-standing prior engagement.”
Camilla will visit a school near her Scottish home Birkhall while the rest of the Royal Family attend the wedding, including the Queen, 92, and Prince Philip, 97.
A source told the Sun that Eugenie – ninth in line to the throne – was “fine about it” and Camilla “didn’t want to let anyone down”.
Five-year-old Prince George will be a pageboy while sister Princess Charlotte, three, and Robbie Williams’ six-year-old daughter Teddy will be pagegirls.
Eugenie’s sister Princess Beatrice will be the maid of honour, while Mr Brooksbank’s brother Tom is expected to be best man.
Eugenie and drinks executive Mr Brooksbank are tying the knot in the same 15th century Gothic chapel where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married in May.
But they will have about 200 additional guests, with more than 800 expected at the service and a castle reception.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had 600 guests at their wedding, watched by tens of millions of TV viewers around the world.
George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding and model Cara Delevingne are said to be among those invited.
Mr Brooksbank is a brand ambassador for Casamigos tequila, co-founded by Hollywood actor Clooney.
Classical singer Andrea Bocelli and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra are due to perform.
The Dean of Windsor, David Conner, will marry the couple while the Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, will lead the prayers.
Like Meghan and Harry’s wedding, around 1,200 members of the public have been given balloted invites to the castle’s Lower Ward.
They will be joined by charity representatives, children from Eugenie’s old schools, and Royal Household staff.
Eugenie’s wedding will be shown live on ITV with three hours of coverage.
Republic, a campaigning group working for an elected head of state, has criticised the security cost to the taxpayer, saying estimates have put the bill at £2m.
Its petition urging the Government to commit no public money to the wedding has more than 30,000 signatures.
The carriage ride by Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank through Windsor will have increased the security costs, but the route will not take them up the Long Walk like Harry and Meghan.
The Queen will host an afternoon reception afterwards in the vast St George’s Hall, and the evening celebrations are expected to continue into the early hours at Eugenie’s family home of Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.
