It was a dazzling nighttime show, the Mayor of Los Angeles told everyone not to worry about aliens: a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket spinning in the evening sky, leaving behind a brilliant panache .
The Falcon 9 was launched into orbit late Sunday (October 7) from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California approximately 254 kilometers north of Los Angeles in order to put the SAOCOM-1A Earth Observation Radar satellite into orbit for the Argentine National Space Agency. This mission was a success and SpaceX also landed the first leg of the Falcon 9 on a new site (Landing Zone 4) near the Vandenberg launch pad, a historic first. But it was the spectacular view of the rocket that swept the night sky, its two floors clearly visible after the separation, which attracted the spectators of the region.
"I watched the launch from the top of Santa Ynez, about 40 km from the base," said Joaquin Baldwin, an artist in animation film layout for Disney and photographer. shared a dazzling view of the launch on Twitter. "It was spectacular, the fog came on and the horizon turned red, and after the second floor, the Falcon 9 drew spirals of light in the sky and a huge blue and magenta cloud formed. We had the impression that we were staring at nebula, with two shining eyes looking back. "
Baldwin's image also shows the first stage of return to Earth.
"The descent at the base was fiery and almost blinding, while the payload left a trail that looked like a distant comet," Baldwin told Space.com. You can see more Baldwin launch photographs via his Twitter page and the Instagram page.
Baldwin was not the only one to have captured an incredible view of the launch of SpaceX. Here is a summary of the most striking images posted on Twitter soon after the successful launch. The images are reminiscent of SpaceX's dazzling launch in December 2017, which created equally incredible views.
