That's what you need to know about the 49ers' 28-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, who had not won Sunday at Levi's Stadium.

Hurried attack
Offensive midfielder Matt Breida has made a good start and seems to be about to embark on a career. Then he suffered a sprained left ankle and did not return. In just one quarter, Breida gained 56 yards in eight attempts.
Running back Alfred Morris had 61 rushing yards, but his average is only 3.4 yards per attempt. Raheem Mostert made an expensive breakaway after replacing Breida. The fumble was huge.

Transient offense
Of course, quarterback C. J. Beathard has managed 349 yards at the best of his career. But we can not look beyond the four turnovers in the passing game. Beathard launched two interceptions, including one deflected from wide receiver Pierre Garçon's hands.

Rushed defense
The Cardinals led most of the game and wanted halfback David Johnson eliminated, but he had no room to maneuver. He wore 18 times for just 55 yards – an average of 3.1.
The 49ers' defensive front controlled the line of scrimmage, but did not impose a turnaround.

Passing Defense
Remember that the Cardinals have the worst offense in the league. The defense did a great job for most of the match. But things could not have started worse.
Cornerback Adrian Colbert allowed rookie receiver Christian Kirk to follow him for a 75-yard touchdown in the Cardinals' first offensive. After that, rookie quarterback Josh Rosen had trouble getting anything, but that was all Arizona needed. He did not initiate any interception and was fired only once.

Special Teams
For some reason, the 49ers canceled their extra points attempt after scoring a touchdown on the first player of the game. The 49ers have left a point there. Ten seconds later, the Cardinals had a lead of 7-6. Then, Robbie Gould's series of consecutive goals stopped 33 straight after scoring a 45-yard effort right.
The 49ers could have used all these points. When they shot at 14-12 with 6:51 to play, they should have had a 17-14 lead.

Yes, the 49ers dominated the score sheet, but who cares about that? The 49ers should have won this match quite easily.
Instead, the offense caused five turnovers and some of the responsibility goes to the defense for not doing anything to take away. It was an abominable performance in a game that, in any case, on paper, was the most winning game in the 49ers' calendar.
