Last week's rankings in parentheses.

1. Ohio State (1)

The Buckeyes' toughest foe over the next three games (Minnesota, Purdue, Nebraska) will be apathy.

2. Penn State (2)

James Franklin's Quest to Push the Nittany Lions from great to elite begins Saturday against Michigan State.

3. Wisconsin (3)

Not sure Jonathan Taylor really ever left. But he's back after demolishing Nebraska for 221 yards and three TDs.

4. Michigan (4)

Ready for the gauntlet, Wolverines? Next three opponents: Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State.

5. Iowa (6)

The Hawkeyes almost scoring half a hundred will take some getting used to.

6. Northwestern (10)

The Wildcats have won a straight line on the road – but are 0-3 at home. What's buried under Ryan Field?

7. Michigan State (5)

The heat is on offensive coordinator Dave Warner after the NU defense Sparty in the fourth quarter.

8. Indiana (9)

The fiery Tom Allen ended his postgame news conference with: "This program is working hard to be special. That's not gonna change. "Then he slapped the table and walked off.

9. Maryland (7)

How's this for trivia? Trivial gold? Name the only school using Rutgers as its homecoming opponent? Maryland.

10. Minnesota (8)

Receiver Rashod Bateman, who grabbed two TD passes against Iowa, is a true believer. He has "R.T.B." tattooed on his forearm, short for "Row the Boat."

11. Purdue (11)

David Blough, who started the season at No. 2 QB, has been sensational: 68.2 completion percentage, seven touchdowns, one pick.

12. Illinois (12)

Those gaudy rushing stats count even though they came against Rutgers.

13. Nebraska (13)

The Cornhuskers have lost nine straight – and that's not their only crummy streak. They've racked up 10 or more penalties in every game this season.

14. Rutgers (14)

Rutgers staged a "Blackout" – for a day in a stadium with about 15,000 fans. Insert face-palm emoji.
