New Orleans Saints catcher Michael Thomas danced on the sidelines, spinning his forearms against each other, while the Mercedes-Benz Superdome played the Big Tymers song "Get Your Roll On". During Monday Night Football. and the visiting Washington Redskins were actually rolled.
The Redskins defense was embarrassed by national television during the unit's implosion, allowing Drew Brees to break the NFL career record in the first half of Washington's 43-19 defeat.
Things got so bad that the team started the second half with cornerback star Josh Norman on the sidelines while rookie Greg Stroman took his place. It did not work well as Tre'Quan Smith raced straight past Stroman for a 35-yard touchdown, ending the first order of the second half. Norman was back on the ground the next reader.
"We talked about some things at halftime," said coach Jay Gruden about Norman. "I had to calm him down a bit. Everything is fine. The situation will return to normal and he will play the rest of the year. "

Norman said that there was no need for another conversation between him and Gruden.
"I leave everything to the head coach," Norman said. "No matter what Jay said, that's what we're going to do. I have nothing else to say on the matter.
"At the end of the day, yes, I am a fierce competitor. Never want to go out. . . . But whatever the head coach says, I want one. It's the chain of command. He is in charge. . . . I respect the manager.
The Saints have one of the most powerful NFL offenses, but the Redskins have always been their worst enemy in the first period.
The defense was about to force the Saints to score three and a half goals in the opening game, but Norman was accused of delaying Brees' return to the field. This trend became a trend that helped the quarterback set the first-half pass record, with New Orleans scoring 26 points. The future quarterback of the Hall of Fame finished the game at 26 for 29 for 363 yards and three touchdowns.

Sanctions are not the only mistakes that led to the explosion.
Norman allowed Smith to run smoothly for a 62-yard touchdown reception that gave Brees and the Saints a 26-6 lead. Norman seemed to have his eyes riveted on running back Alvin Kamara in the apartment and no one picked up Smith while he was passing in front of a completely smashed blanket.
"There was a problem there," said Gruden. "It's one of the issues we're talking about and it's something we need to fix. This can not happen in professional football. You do not see that happening in professional football. We are together too long. We have used the same cover too often. We must coach better. We must make sure that this will never happen again.
"It's an absolute embarrassment."
