In what was to be the happiest day of her life, a wife spent her emotional wedding at the grave of her future husband.
Jessica Padgett was about to marry the man of her dreams, the volunteer firefighter Kendall Murphy, when he was hit and killed by an alleged drunk driver.
The accident of November 10, 2017 occurred while Mr. Murphy was helping an accident victim near his home in Indiana in the United States. He was killed instantly.
His community was shattered by his death, the local fire department gracing the red light station in tribute to their late colleague.

Instead of canceling the entire wedding, Ms. Padgett decided to keep her booking with her photographer, Mandi Knepp, in the hope that it would help her heal herself.
"I had already bought my dress and other items and I still wanted to contribute to my wedding day," Ms. Padgett told Global News.
On September 29, 2018 – the day the couple was to be married – Ms. Padgett was wearing her wedding dress, makeup and hair.

A series of touching photographs shows the future bride with her family and in-laws – including the moment when Mr. Murphy's mother presents the bride with her favorite and well-worn cowboy boots.
A note was attached to the boots: "Whatever path you take, your guardian angel will always be there for you. Love, Kendall.
In the most moving picture perhaps, we see Mrs. Padgett kneel before the grave of her fiancée, her head resting on the tombstone.
After the photos were uploaded to Facebook, Ms. Padgett began to receive messages of support from nice strangers, many of whom had gone through similar circumstances.

"I am a little blessed to have done so because different people have told me about their difficulties and have seen my images bring strength and comfort," she said.
"In the end, I'm happy to have done so because I can now go back over the memories that Mandi has kept and about the ways I've taken to honor Kendall and be with Kendall and see everything the support I had that day. "
Murphy was honored at the national memorial service for the fallen firefighters in Washington DC on Sunday.
