A man who barricaded himself in a house after firing a Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputy died, ending a deadlock of several hours, officials said Tuesday morning.

Sheriff Troy Nehls said he did everything he could to get in touch with 41-year-old Serik Olivares, who was hiding in the house on the 3,700 block of Lakeridge Canyon Drive since about 5 am.

Officials deployed gas cylinders shortly after 10am but still have not received a response.

When the authorities entered the house, they found Olivares dead in a room on the floor.

Around 8 am, a woman and her 2-year-old grandson escaped from the home located in the Orchard Lake Estates neighborhood.

Nehls says that Olivares is the boy's father. The grandmother and the child are both well.

Nehls says it all started when the dispatch received 911 calls from another woman, the boy's mother, about a disturbance at home.

When deputies arrived and tried to contact Olivares, shots were fired. One of these bullets went through the calf of a deputy.

This MP has been identified as MP J. Bulman. A bullet also seems to have touched Bulman's chin, tweeted the authorities.

Officers tell Eyewitness News that Bulman was aware when he was taken to Hermann Sugar Land Memorial Hospital. He is evaluated for surgery on his calf.

ABC13 reporter Jeff Ehling arrived at the scene earlier in the morning and heard two loud bangs, which the authorities now confirm, namely that the suspect was shooting at officers as they entered the house. .

The deputies retreated when Olivares started firing. The SWAT team has arrived to try to negotiate with him.

The authorities told Eyewitness News that five people, including Olivares, were at home. The boy's mother was able to get out the back door.

Once she escaped, she again called 911.

Grandma's husband was also at home. He went out at one point in the morning.

No homes were evacuated due to stalemate.
