Little Caesars opened an investigation into a viral video that showed a cashier who stocked and served DiGiorno frozen pizza.

The video recorded on October 5 and posted on Twitter the next day by Vincent Romero (@vinandwesson) shows employees of Little Caesars standing around a basket filled with DiGiorno frozen pizzas. Although Romero declined to specify which store he had recorded the video, his Twitter account says that he resides in Indiana and a spokesman for the Little Caesars company told Delish that it was a K-Mart franchise connected to a larger shopping center. The mysterious pizzas scandal resulted in a Little Caesars survey and dozens of fun answers from DiGiorno's official Twitter account.

Romero told Delish that he was waiting for his Hot-N-Ready pizza at the Little Caesars store to close the stores when he noticed the basket full of frozen pizzas on the counter side. He claimed that he was too far away from employees standing by DiGiorno's pizza to hear their discussion, but he "found it amusing, so I recorded the clip and transferred it to Twitter ".

"It can not happen right in front of me," Romero tweeted Saturday.

The video, which is now a virus, has since been viewed almost 5 million times on Twitter and other social media, triggering a playful battle of tweets between DiGiorno and Little Caesars. When a Twitter user tagged DiGiorno and asked for an explanation, the frozen pizza company replied, "We're as curious as you are" with a laughing emoji.

"We have no idea what's going on, all we know is that we've watched it as much as 128 times," DiGiorno told Romero's Twitter feed.

A spokesman for Little Caesars told Delish that his investigation of the Kmart store case revealed a coincidence about outdated pizza. Several customers had previously complained to Kmart executives about expired DiGiorno pizzas. "Because the closing time was so close, the K-Mart manager asked his employee to temporarily tidy them up in a cooler adjacent to the Little Caesars site so that he would be thrown in the morning ", added the spokesman for Little Caesars. "I can confirm that no pizza at DiGiorno has been cooked or served at this Little Caesars location."

Among Twitter users having fun with the slogans delivery against DiGiorno was the model Chrissy Teigen, who had helped to promote controversy after sharing the video and wrote: "The only little Caesars I want to see."
