Here are some events around Asheville during Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

Drink Pink Ribbon Ale: During October, Wicked Weed, 91 Biltmore Ave., will donate $ 1 per year for each Pink Ribbon Ale sold to the Hope Chest. Pink Ribbon Ale is a hibiscus honey with pink hips that give it a unique pink color. Pink Ribbon Ale is specially brewed for the cause during October. A non-alcoholic low sugar hibiscus iced tea is also available for sale. www.hopechestforwomen.org.

Breast Cancer Prevention Lunch and Learn: Noon-1 p.m. Oct. 12, Park Ridge Health, 100 Hospital Drive, Hendersonville. Dr. Vel Matthews-Smith, medical oncologist, who will discuss breast cancer risk and the importance of prevention, screenings and early detection. Guests will receive a complimentary lunch coupon for Park Ridge Health Café. RSVP by registering at PRHevents.com or calling 855-PRH-LIFE (855-774-5433). Guests are invited to arrive at 11:30 a.m.

Asheville Sky Zone, 1836 Hendersonville Road, will sell Pink Sky Socks Limited Edition for $ 4 October to raise awareness of breast cancer. The park will donate $ 1 for each of the world's most popular hospitals. To draw attention to their fundraising efforts, Sky Zone Asheville will host a giant pink firetruck in their Gerber Village parking lot from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 14.

#IDriveFor ​​event by Asheville Chevrolet: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 18, 205 Smoky Park Highway. #IDriveFor ​​is a fundraiser to help find a cure for breast cancer. For every # AshevilleChevyDrives4 on Instagram and Twitter, the national Chevrolet Corporation will donate $ 5 to the Hope Chest for Women. Entertainment by Jesse Berry and Kelly Jones, Logan Marie Ledford and Owen High School Female Acapella group Fourmata. Also food, silent auction, raffles. Park Ridge Health, Asheville Citizen Times (part of the USA Today Network), 106.9 The Light (Blue Ridge Broadcasting), ABC News 13 (WLOS) and Ingles Markets sponsor this event. During October Asheville Chevrolet will also have ribbons available for purchase that they will display in their windows. Park Ridge Health Cancer Services is also providing cancer screenings and information.

Talk With A Doc dinner seminar "Breast Cancer Screening and Prevention": 6 p.m. Oct. 18, Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center, Leroy George Drive, Clyde. Dr. Allison Johnson, general surgeon, will present the seminar. Johnson will speak while bosses enjoy a healthy meal. Afterward, she will circulate and allow guests to ask questions. Breast Cancer Poker Run: Harley-Davidson of Asheville, 20 Patton Cove Road, Swannanoa, will host the seventh annual Breast Cancer Poker Run from 9 am-4 pm Oct. 20. Proceeds benefit The Hope Chest for Women and their work support WNC women with breast gold gynecologic cancer. Music, food by Texas House Road, fun for the whole family!

Here's Hope: Celebrating Hope Fashion Show and Luncheon: Oct. 11 at the Asheville Event Center, 291 Sweeten Creek Rd. Chef's Kitchen, Ingles, Fashion show featuring Asheville Outlet's latest fall fashions, modeled by local breast and gynecological cancer patients and survivors. Silent auction, raffle, must by Ron Lamb & Co.

Proceeds benefit the Hope Chest for Women, a nonprofit that helps to relieve some of the burden of cancer in western North Carolina. Tickets are $ 50. Register at www.hopechestforwomen.org.

Free "Cancer Conversations" webinar: Noon-1, Oct. 26, Pardee Hospital, 800 N. Justice St., Hendersonville. This month's topic is "Understanding Breast Cancer." The program is free. Dr. Kristalyn Gallagher, Surgical Director of the UNC Breast Center and Head of Breast Surgery at UNC School of Medicine, will share how to increase breast cancer risk.
