Virginia firefighter dies, several more injured when semi-truck sinks into fire truck

A semitrailer driver rammed a fire truck on Thursday night into a Virginia Interstate car accident, killing a firefighter and injuring several others.

The semi-trailer was traveling south on the I-295 motorway around 9 pm. When she crashed into a fire truck, which was helping out in a car accident in Hanover, Virginia, Virginia State Police announced in a press release.

Lt. Brad Clark died on the scene, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Friday, citing the authorities.

The crash is still under investigation, but the Dispatch has noted harsh driving conditions, with Hurricane Michael causing "heavy rains and high winds, as well as tornadoes" in the area.
