A man working on the movie Mister Rogers starring Tom Hanks died after falling on the plateau of Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Police said James Emswiller, a 61-year-old Pittsburgh sound mixer, was pausing between scenes when he passed a brick wall on the balcony of a building and lost two floors.

Police told the station that people nearby said they heard a noise and discovered that the man had fallen off a balcony.

The victim, who was transported to a local hospital, may have had a medical incident before falling over the brick wall surrounding the balcony. Lebanese police chief Aaron Lauth tells Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The newspaper reported that star Hanks, who plays Fred Rogers, was on the set Thursday but left after the incident. The shoot was canceled for the evening.

USA TODAY contacted the local police and the film production studio for comments.

The film is inspired by a true friendship between Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. Junod is portrayed as a cynical scribe who reluctantly agrees to write an Esquire profile on the iconic Mr. Rogers. He finds his life perspective transformed into the process.
