"It's not the smartest decision," said Moore about their six-year marriage. "I did not choose the right person."
On Wednesday, Adams responded to a tweet from blogger Perez Hilton about the interview.
"She did not like the Melvins or BladeRunner," Adams tweeted. "Doomed from the beginning … If only I could remember the beginning lol."
In a tweet now deleted, Adams claimed to have been so high that he did not even remember their 2009 wedding.
"When someone said we were married, I thought they were joking," he said. "Then I realized how much painkillers I was taking in. Honestly, there was not enough to make the shock sleep." Gollygooops.
Adams responded to another tweet on Thursday that he had "probably written the 75%" if his love songs were for Moore.
"There is not really a single song on it," Adams wrote. "Not like the others."
Subsequent tweets worried fans, including Adams.
"I'm doing my best right now, I'm in pain," he wrote in an answer.
"It's real – people will leave you and your life will sink into total chaos," the singer tweeted. "You will feel like having a heart attack – they might not even care."
Adams tweeted Friday that he was meeting with a counselor and had apologized for the concern he was arousing and his comments on Moore.
"I apologize for what I said," he said. "I was trying to be funny, but I have and will always choose to remember incredible moments."
