GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – Palestinian health authorities said Israeli forces shot dead six Palestinians, including four in one incident, on one of the deadliest days in months of protests. mass along the security fence separating Gaza and Israel.
Gaza's health ministry said Friday that four people were killed in one place. The Israeli army said it opened fire on a crowd of Palestinians who broke through the fence and approached an army post. No Israeli army was injured, the army added.
Two other Palestinians were killed at other demonstration sites, the ministry added, adding at least 140 Palestinians wounded by live ammunition.
Since March, Hamas has orchestrated almost weekly protests along the fence.
The Israeli army said 14,000 Palestinians had gathered Friday in fenced areas.
