In the district of Jaipur in Rajasthan, no less than 18 people have been tested positive for Zika virus, bringing to 50 the total number of infected people, said Friday an official of the Ministry of Health. According to PTI, at least 10 of the new cases were reported in Shastri Nagar locality in Jaipur.

The Center also provided the Government of Rajasthan with information, educational materials and communication materials to raise public awareness of the virus.

The Zika virus is mainly transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, including Aedes aegypti who wears dengue. Most people with Zika will have no symptoms or mild symptoms such as fever, rash, joint pain, conjunctivitis, and possibly muscle aches and headaches that can last for days to a week. In September, Rajasthan had registered its first case of Zika virus infection after a woman was tested positive in Jaipur.
