A body was found after the crash of a small private plane in the Atlantic Ocean off the Hamptons coast Saturday morning, officials said and information.
The twin-engine Piper PA-34 sank at Quogue around 11 am – and "a small debris field was found," said the Coast Guard.
The accident occurred about three miles southeast of the Francis S. Gabreski airport at Westhampton Beach, said an FAA spokesman.
Three people were aboard the plane, Newsday reported.
The Coast Guard confirmed that a body had been found, reported CBS New York.
A Coast Guard crew, the Suffolk County Marine Corps, the Air National Guard and a diving rescue company responded, according to the spokesman.
In June, a small plane carrying four people aboard crashed into the Atlantic about a mile and a half from the Indian Wells beach in Amagansett.
"Builder to the stars" Ben Krupinski and his wife Bonnie Bistrian Krupinski, both 70 years old; their 22-year-old grandson Will Maerov; as well as pilot Jon Dollard, 47, were killed in the accident.
