The end of the first half of Florida's odd win, number 14, at Vanderbilt, both teams (along with their main coaches) had a sustained physical and verbal brawl. It began after a Florida player imposed a heavy block on the Commodore when returning a punt for UF, and chaos between players and coaches continued.
Vanderbilt players and coaches left the sidelines and moved closer to the Florida sideline and UF staff also announced its presence:
UF head coach Dan Mullen and Vandy head coach Derek Mason shouted, while Florida defenses coordinator Todd Grantham shouted in Mason's direction:
Florida's Freddie Swain had returned the punt to Vanderbilt 49. The Gators James Houston IV backstroke blocker, however, supported the Gators to their starting line.
It was only the beginning:
- Houston was ejected for targeting.
- Both whole teams obtained sanctions for unsportsmanlike conduct.
- It turned out to be the second unsportsmanner of Joseph Vosean Joseph of Florida, who also had one. The officials disqualified Joseph on the grounds that his own sanction was his second unsportsmanlike foul of the day. (Joseph's personal sanction was not taken after the bench test, but before.)
- But Joseph had no interest in leaving the field:
So here's the recap of how it worked for Florida:
So Florida just lost …
– 30 yards on two penalties
– James Houston IV
– Vosean Joseph… on a return of punt that could have ended in the territory of Vandy.

Mullen told an ESPN reporter he was leaving the field for half-time, with the Gators scoring 21-13: "It's on them." He seemed to be referring to the officials.
After the match, Mason did not hesitate to approach the situation:
(2/2) Mason continued, "I say something in return and Dan gets angry. That's how it all started. Obviously, at the end of the day, we're just trying to make sure we play the game the right way, keep the game safe and make sure everybody gets out of there. "

It was a whole mess. It seemed to literally break ESPN:
The typos arrive. And this game has screwed with everybody the spirit, to be fair.
In addition, this fuss was not even the first time Grantham had participated in a hot match with Vandy's coaches. Seven years ago, when he was in Georgia:
Capper to a first savage half, which also included:
- An absurd, but almost successful, attempt at a return from Vanderbilt's defense in an attempt to return an interception to 98 yards for a touchdown on the ground after clearly falling to the ground:
QB Feleipe Franks is intercepted in the Commodores Red Zone by DB Joejuan Williams! What a mess for the Gators who took it. pic.twitter.com/1JbwHujhYC

- An absurd football match after a fumble in Florida, which ends in Vanderbilt taking the ball:
- Vanderbilt is actually ahead of Florida, a team that has beaten Vandy 26 times over the last 27 times. The half-time score was 21-13, and Vanderbilt, who won a game in Florida, may be the oddest thing about the game.
The match remained bizarre in the second half, with Florida's top-ranked victory (21-3 early in the game), with a 9.5 point gap with a last-minute investment.
