The storm has crossed the capital Lisbon
Hurricane force destroyed hundreds of trees and left more than 15,000 homes without electricity in Portugal.
The remains of Hurricane Leslie swept Saturday night the center and the north of the country.
No deaths or injuries were reported, but the authorities warned people not to venture outside and several flights were canceled.
The storm, one of the most powerful ever to have hit the country, is now heading towards Spain.
