Fedor Emelianenko will have the opportunity to become the Bellator heavyweight champion next year after defeating Chael Sonnen in the semifinal of his grand prix tournament on Saturday at the Bellator 208.
Emelianenko (38-5 MMA, 2-1 BMMA), former PRIDE longtime champion, has qualified for the tournament final against Ryan Bader (26-5 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) after defeating Sonnen (30-16-1 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) by KO in the first round of the next fight organized by Paramount at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. The final will be held January 26 in Inglewood, California.
