We went through seven weeks of college football and this one was absolutely not disappointed. Whether there were major upheavals or record games, there was a lot to gain across the country.
Here are the matches that could affect the scenario of the university football playoffs at the end of the regular season:
LSU upsets Georgia at first home meeting since 2008

After being thwarted by Florida on the road last week, LSU came out with a dominant performance in week seven, giving Georgia its first setback, 36-16. The win tied the school record of wins against the top-8 AP teams in one season.
The Tigers ruled the Bulldogs for two quarters, scoring a 16-0 lead. After allowing a touchdown by Elijah Holyfield in the third quarter, the Tigers reaffirmed their power by identifying a two-point conversion attempt and stifling it completely.
In addition to this missed opportunity, nothing seemed to align for the Bulldogs. Jake Fromm launched two interceptions, the Bulldogs could not convert to the fourth try, and the attack was almost non-existent. Freshman Justin Fields watched a few minutes of play as Kirby Smart hoped to use his agility as a threat. But Fromm continued to intervene, only to be unsure of his next moves, hold the ball too long and get fired. Meanwhile, Joe Burrow hit the Georgian defense, making a show at home.
There is no doubt that LSU will skyrocket in the standings while Georgia will take a shot. Do not expect Georgia to pull out of the playoff race with that one loss: the Bulldogs still have time to prove themselves. But if LSU can win Alabama at home on Nov. 3, do not count them out of the PCP dispute.

Michigan State inflicts its second consecutive loss to Penn State
The result of Penn State's game against Michigan State has been an overwhelming and familiar scene for fans of Nittany Lions. Penn State still had a chance to win the Big Ten Championship and potentially join the PCP even after the defeat of the Ohio State. But a second defeat against the Spartans – who locked his fate in the same way last season – means that Lions can probably embrace their hopes of seeing goodbye.
Although Michigan State did not always dominate throughout the match, a late touchdown sealed Penn State's fate on the night when Trace McSorley became the lead smuggler of the program.
Notre Dame beats Pittsburgh
The Fighting Irish nearly suffered their first defeat just hours after the College GameDay team declared that it deserved to play the lead role in the CFP with a season without defeat.
The Panthers scored 88 yards at 1:26 of the first quarter, and the Irish had to play to make up for the rest of the game. But a 35-yard pass from quarterback Ian Book to the wide receiver, Miles Boykin, with just under 6 minutes of play, led them to victory. It was the fourth consecutive time that Book had recorded several touchdown passes.
With home victories against ranked Michigan and Stanford teams and no more ranked games in front of them, Notre Dame should feel pretty confident. They just can not let a lot more games get close to so close.

Michigan ends hopes of Wisconsin's PCP at Grande Maison
Like Penn State, the Badgers started the seventh week with a defeat behind them, but some still hope to be able to hold the table for a birth under the CFP. These hopes collapsed when Shea Patterson and his company took control of the match.
Both teams drew in the first quarter and Michigan started to dominate. Wisconsin scored seven with a Kendric Pryor touchdown to tie Michigan's first score, but things quickly deteriorated. Alex Hornibrook then finished the match with two interceptions and a late touchdown pass for AJ Taylor.

The nail in the coffin was an interception, only 10 minutes left, giving Michigan a 31-7 lead over the Badgers. It was Michigan's third interception that turned into touchdown this season. A last 44-yard touchdown by Dylan McCaffrey in the final minutes of the match was enough to rattle the Big House under the blistering shock of Michigan against the Badgers fans. Wisconsin will be down in the AP poll for the second time this season, while Michigan could enter the Top 10.
The UCF returns for a 19th consecutive victory
UCF almost broke its own record for the country's longest winning streak, but came back for a one-point win. In the 30-17 semi-final, it seemed that the Knights could suffer their first defeat in 18 games. However, they rebounded by eliminating the Tigers in the second half while scoring 14 more points. UCF could expect a slight rise in the ranking after a few setbacks of week 7 in the Top 25.
And again, we wonder if the Knights will do the CFP. They would probably have been removed from this conversation by a loss of Memphis. But with the victory and the fact that the CFP director has declared "there is a way forward" between UCF and the PCP, Knights fans have another reason to be happy.
Alabama flies over Missouri and briefly loses Tua TagaVailoa
Alabama fans were probably a bit surprised to see their Tide give 10 points to Missouri in the first quarter. They concentrated from there, giving more points to the Tigers and garnering a total of 39 themselves.
For a while, quarterback Tua Tagavailoa had a knee injury. He entered the match with a sprained knee, but he played well until the third quarter. During a race, Tagavailoa changed it again and headed for the medical tent while Jalen Hurts replaced him. However, Nick Saban confirmed after the match that Tagavailoa was doing well, and you should expect to see him again.
The tide should remain in first place in the AP vote, especially after Georgia's second-place loss to LSU. The Tide will face the Tigers on November 3rd, which should be their biggest test before a match for the title of the conference that should lead to a new birth of the CFP.
West Virginia falls for the first time this season
The Mountaineers were not in the place they thought they could get out of the Iowa State night game. Facing a cyclone team dressed in all-black uniforms, West Virginia let slip what could have been a win. The No. 6 Mountaineers were scoreless in the second half, scoring only one touchdown in each of the first quarters. The Iowa State, in contrast, scored 10 points in the second period to bring the margin to 30-14.
The Iowa State is now 5-2 against the ranked teams of the last two seasons. ISU had lost its previous 20 games against ranked opponents from 2011 to 2016. #WinInTheDark pic.twitter.com/6xOKLuRVK2

This is the first defeat of the season in West Virginia, but it has more weight as mountaineers were forced to cancel a match during Hurricane Florence. This gives the CFP committee one less match to determine the value of West Virginia, no matter how good their game is for the rest of the season. Expect them to drop out of the top 10 APs and do not buy your plane ticket to watch them in the PCF for now.
