Richard Madden is about to be offered the role of James Bond.
The 32-year-old actor would have impressed Bond's bosses by his performance in the BBC Bodyguard drama series. He is about to replace Daniel Craig in 007.
A source told The Mail on Sunday: "It seems seriously that he's getting the job."
Barbara Broccoli, Executive Producer at Eon Productions, will have the final say on the future Bond and would have been impressed by her turn in the BBC hit series.
The insider added: "Not only is he at the top of Barbara's list, but she's getting ready to propose the role."
Daniel Craig is filming his fifth film Bond, after which he will leave the franchise.
Madden played the role of Sergeant David Budd, who was responsible for protecting the secretary inside, in the series, which captivated viewers until the unbearably tense finale.
Born in Scotland, he began playing at the age of 11 and appeared in many theatrical productions before starring in the BBC Hope Springs series in 2009. The following year he was played in Chatroom before playing the role for which he is now best known, as Robb Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones.
He also played in Sirence on Channel 4 and Birdsong on BBC, and played in Prince Kit in Disney's Cinderella. Fans have also seen it in the Medici TV series: Masters of Florence and Netflix, Ibiza, as well as in the 2014 series, Klondike.
In 2016, he played alongside Idris Elba on July 14th. Elba is one of many well-known actors – including Tom Hiddleston, Jamie Dornan and Tom Hardy – who have been associated with Bond's role in recent years.
However, Idris said earlier this year that the world was not ready for a black tie.
The actor born in London explained: "I think that in England we have reached this stage [of having a black James Bond] because, culturally, we are a little more diverse, but the rest of the world is not like that and I think there is some kind of stigma.
"It's like," Oh he's black, can he do it because he's black? "
Idris also rejected claims that people would be more accommodating to change because of recent historical moments, such as Barack Obama becoming the first black president of the United States.
He explained: "Obama can be president because he's a very smart man and I'm sure he had the same feelings:" Well, I'm not the first black president, I'm Obama . I am the first Obama. "
"So for me, you know I do not like to do a lot, the fact is that it's a great rumor. If that should happen, I think it would be the will of a nation."
