Here is the AP summary:
DENVER (AP) – Todd Gurley had 28 rushing yards, 28 rushing yards, two touchdown passes and the famous Los Angeles Rams backstroke, Wade Phillips, with a 23-20 victory over the Broncos.
The Rams, who had lost 31 points in the first leg, improved to 6-0 by bringing the Broncos (2-4) to a fourth consecutive defeat.
The Broncos shot at 23-20 over Demaryius Thomas, Case Keenum's one-yard dart, with a time of 1:22 running, completing a 77-yard run involving three defensive penalties.
Rams receiver Robert Woods, however, prevented Brandon McManus from getting out of the game. The Rams ran the time with Jared Goff (14 of 28 for 201 yards) taking the knee twice.
Phillips was the beloved band leader of the Broncos when they celebrated their Super Bowl 50 win, but his contract was not renewed after the 2016 season and he joined Sean McVay in the sunny south of California.
After a snowstorm all night, the 25-degree game temperature was the coldest in Denver before November of franchise history.
The cold did nothing to slow down Gurley, who scored his 10th and 11th touchdowns of the season.
One was on a 10-yard run that gave the Rams a 13-3 lead at half-time, the other on a 1 yard run that scored 20-3 before the frantic return attempt Broncos.
Gurley's first result came after a header from Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who thought he was 44 yards for the goal and slammed into the face of cornerback Troy Hill, firing a provocative foul.
After testing, Sanders was declared the winner at 1, and the 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty sent the Broncos back to 16.
Instead of an extra point to give Denver a 7-6 lead, McManus ended up scoring a 28-yard field goal to reduce the Denver deficit to 6-3.
Sanders later scored for a 22-yard pass to bring the score to 20-10, and McManus's short goal made a match to a score with about nine minutes to go.
The Rams responded by scoring a 21-yard goal for Cairo Santos, which earned them a 10-point lead at 3:15.
The Broncos coach, Vance Joseph, had promised changes after Denver's 34-16 demoralizing defeat against the New York Jets last week. They had yielded 323 yards on the ground, including Isaiah Crowell 219 yards, but these changes were aesthetic or schematic and ultimately unsuccessful.
Max Garcia replaced Connor McGovern, but McGovern came back and Garcia was replaced by left-footer Ronald Leary (ankle) injured in the third quarter.
If the Broncos had better options, cornerback Bradley Roby – who has again dropped big games – and left tackle Garett Bolles – who was reported Sunday for his sixth game in the NFL – would also been put on the bench.
Roby took over from Aqib Talib when the Broncos traded their talibs against the Rams in the spring. Talib is marginalized by an ankle injury. Again, Talib is making the trip with his teammates, walked with a boot on his left foot and a crutch under his right arm and remained on the sidelines during warm-ups.
SACK ATTACK
Von Miller broke a three-week bagless sequence with 1-2bags and rookie Bradley Chubb had three sacks.
INJURY
Rams WR Cooper Kupp was removed from the field after having torn his left knee when S Knight Darian Stewart of the Broncos stuck him on the Broncos sideline after a 12-yard throw at the second. quarter, but he made a surprising comeback in the second half. OLB Matt Longacre (back) and LT Andrew Whitworth (possible concussion) also left the game.
The Broncos DE Derek Wolfe (hamstring) and OLB Shane Ray (ankle) both returned after their injury. Keenum was controlled for a concussion, allowing substitute Chad Kelly to make his first draw in the NFL on his knees just before the break. S Dymonte Thomas (chest) was also injured.
