"Shameless" fans react to Cameron Monaghan's final episode Bittersweet

Last week, Cameron Monaghan revealed to fans the episode of Sunday night's Shamelesswould be his last, and of course, the Gallagher family bade farewell to one of them, who was given a romantic – although unconventional – outing. Ian goes to jail where he finds his first great love interest in the series, Mickey Milkovich (Noel Fisher), imprisoned since season 6.

It's probably the sweetest way that a love story (that ends in prison, anyway) can end, and after the episode, Showtime shared a pretty video showing the couple's important moments.

While fans had to be sad to learn that Monaghan would leave the show, they cried with joy as he told how he left, going to Twitter to share their reactions – and crying emojis.

"All good things have an end," Monaghan wrote on Twitter last Tuesday, confirming his demise, after appearing in the show since its inception in 2011. "An old cliché, but that just rings with sincerity and clarity, especially at times like these, everything ends. "

Of course, Monaghan is not the only actor to say goodbye to the long Showtime series. In August, Emmy Rossum, who plays Fiona, the beloved big sister and de facto family head of the Gallagher family, revealed that Season 9 of the series would be the last.
