"Shared" electronic scooters have become a phenomenon of transport this year, available in dozens of cities around the world. But San Francisco, the home town of several startups, had a confrontational relationship after thousands of scooters were released here in March. The two companies that received approval from the transit agency promised to share data with the city on the location, timing and distance of the scooters.
