MAINZ, Germany – According to German police, a detained hostage was released and the attacker was taken into custody, the German police said.
Eyewitnesses reported at around 6:45 am (Paris time) that a man entered a pharmacy at the Breslauer Platz, near the back of the train station, where the police said that he had been told that he was in danger. he had taken the woman hostage.
The situation ended after a few hours when the attacker was taken into custody, a police spokeswoman told NBC News. The details on the identity of the hostage taker have not been revealed.
The woman who was taken hostage is treated for what the police have described as minor injuries.
