Some of the strongest winds in Santa Ana for years are expected to blow in southern California on Monday with gusts reaching about 70 mph in mountain areas.

The fire alarm will be in effect in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Angeles National Forest, the Santa Monica Recreation Area, the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and San Valleys. A spokesman for the SCE said that neighborhoods in the hillside neighborhoods, from Santa Clarita to Pasadena, could be without power.
Approximately 31,400 SCE customers were off electricity Monday morning, including 23,345 in Los Angeles County.

The areas serviced by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Energy were not part of the generalized blackout warnings.
Northeasterly winds blow 25 to 45 miles to the hour in the mountains, with bursts at 65 mph and 75 mph. The humidity rate will be between 4 and 12%.
In Orange County – including mountain areas below 6,000 feet, the Cleveland National Forest and valleys – high winds are expected at 20-40 mph with gusts at 60 mph, with gusts to 80 mph in some areas with a humidity of 5-10%. The red flag warning in Orange County will last from 3 am to 8 pm Tuesday.
In Riverside County, the mountain areas, the foothills and the Coachella Valley are under the red flag. Winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts of nearly 60 mph are forecast for the Santa Ana Mountains and near the San Gorgonio Pass.
