Dallas Cowboys: Jason Garrett, the Cowboys coach, does not have enough credit for this trend. Win against Jaguars was only the last example

FRISCO – The sadness and gloom were relegated to the background for a week.

While the first win of the Cowboys season did not usher in a glorious sky, what was the last time the sun was seen in North Texas? – he offered some perspective.

A low NFC-East is not the only development to minimize the impact of the difficulties faced by the Cowboys early in the season. Dallas records a 3-3 record in week 7. How many conference teams have won more games?

The Cowboys did not reach the peaks of September and mid-October that the organization or its supporters were hoping for. But a 40-7 victory over Jacksonville helped to alleviate the doubts that were beginning to take root about the offensive state.

"We did not question anything inside," said quarterback Dak Prescott. "We will leave the questions to everyone. [the media].

"We knew, I told you that after the first or second week, we would not go that well or meet our standards." We were within one or two games of distance. [Sunday] was we made these games. We still missed a deep ball here, a game that allows this attack to be even more explosive.

Critics groan after losses on what Jason Garrett does not do for this team. But here is a trend that has evolved throughout his coaching career and that is not getting enough credit.

The Cowboys are 14-2 in games that can bring the team back to .500. Sunday's victory over the Jaguars was the third time this season has arrived.

The last time Dallas failed to win a match that would stabilize his record is the loss to New England on October 11, 2015. At this time of the season, quarterback Tony Romo was out with a collarbone broken and their way to a record of 4-12.

Blocking the noise and negativity that swirls outside this team after the losses, it's one of his strengths under Garrett.

"I think our team is doing a really good job of staying stuck on ourselves and what we need to do," Garrett said. "No matter what noise you're talking about, we're never really trapped, we just lock ourselves in and come to work.

"It's a good young team, you're trying to instill that in those guys and they've responded well to that, I think this week was a good indication."

Returning to .500 does not captivate the imagination, like winning a division title or a playoff game. The superpowers fall into the category of lame.

But do not diminish the ability of a team to refuse to go south. Time and time again under Garrett – and this team perpetuates the culture in place – the Cowboys remain competitive and give themselves a chance to go from the front.

"I'll repeat, it's just the type of guy we have," said halfback Ezekiel Elliott. "We are all too responsible."

Next step: Washington. The only team in front of the Cowboys in the division is 3-2. A Cowboys team without a win on the road must go to the East Coast for this match.

Nobody is ready to proclaim that the Cowboys have taken a turn. But a win over Washington would give Dallas its first winning streak in 10 months and allow the team to start the week with a winning record.

"I think our group is confident," said Zack Martin, the goalkeeper of the Pro Bowl. "I think we're doing a good job in not letting the outside world dictate our situation as a team.We know we have all the pieces, and I think we've shown that [Sunday].

"Now we just have to put it together on the road."
