A young Irish woman who has raised more than 700,000 euros for innovative cancer treatment in the United States is on his way home from Texas.
Shauntelle Tynan confirmed that she had no cancer in August, a rare form of the disease that was diagnosed in 2015.
Shauntelle moved with her family from Carlow to Houston last year and announced on Facebook this morning that she was finally about to return home.
Shauntelle suffered from a rare form of cancer and stole the hearts of the nation when her video helped her to bring her to America for viral treatment.
The 20-year-old broke her initial goal of € 500,000 and raised more than € 750,000.
After learning that the treatment had been a success, Shauntelle said, "The future hurdles I will face will be worth all that I have experienced.Now, I really have a chance to live and I will will keep abreast of the evolution of my life … the future. "
While she and her family lived in Texas, she kept her supporters informed about her life and the treatment process via her YouTube channel, claiming that she "wanted to film the positive and negative aspects" of the life with cancer.
In a Facebook post last week, the family said their trip was a "roller coaster like no other".
They said that "against all odds, we are bringing Shan back home healthier than we could have imagined".
The Tynan family thanked everyone at home and in Texas for their help and support and also asked interested people to make a small donation to the Gavin Glynn Foundation "which has given us incredible support throughout trip".
The family said she was eager to "wake up all together as a family for the first time in 602 days".
