RED BATON – Three days after leading LSU to a 36-16 victory over Georgia's No. 2 Tiger Stadium, head coach Ed Orgeron was named Dodd Trophy's National Coach of the Week at the Base of the year coach Bobby Dodd and at the Chick-fil-A Bowl announced Tuesday.
The Dodd Trophy Weekly Coach Award honors the football coach whose program includes the three pillars of scholarship, leadership and the integrity of the award, while also being successful on the pitch the week before.
Against Georgia, LSU totaled 475 yards, 275 of them on the ground, which was the biggest hit of the Bulldogs of the season. The Tigers were also a perfect 4 of 4 in the fourth defeat and forced four turnovers in the win.
On the defense, the Tigers had an attack from Georgia with an average of 42 points and a total of 485 yards down for points (16) and a total attack (322).
The victory over the second-ranked Bulldogs marks the first time LSU has beaten a top-level opponent at Tiger Stadium since it beat Florida's top spot in 1997.
