Although New York is a prominent "pizza town", it is not home to the country's # 1 pizzeria.
At least that is according to TripAdvisor.
The travel review site, which garners millions of opinions from guests around the world, has just published a list of its 10 best American pizzerias. The # 1 spot for America's favorite food? Regina Pizzeria Boston. The Boston restaurant pushed Bleecker Street Pizza, New York, to second place on the list.
Here are the top 5 pizza joints:
1. Regina Pizzeria
The winner of Boston's "Little Italy" is famous for its "Giambotti" pie and spicy sauce.
2. Bleecker Street Pizza
The New York pizzeria offers slices of Tuscan style and just add dozens of extra seats to the tiny establishment.
3. Modern Apizza
The charcoal restaurant in New Haven, Connecticut, has the "Italian bomb" with bacon, sausages, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, pepper and garlic.
4. Pizza at home
Although located in Austin, Texas, Home Slice Pizza offers New York style slices with over 20 toppings to choose from.
5. Moose's Tooth Pub and Pizzeria
This restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska, was on the list for its stone-fired pizza with slices of the "Amazing Apricot" type.
As for the best pizza all around cities, TripAdvisor has put N.Y.C. returns to Chicago, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Orlando. Boston was choice # 7.
