The mega-popular video site was disconnected Tuesday night for users around the world. Visitors to the YouTube homepage were greeted by a half-load page containing the subscribed channels, but no video.
By clicking on any channel, users are greeted by the image of a monkey holding a hammer and the text "Internal 500 Server Error". A message was saying, "Sorry, an error has occurred." In an update posted on Twitter, YouTube said they were aware of the problem, but did not specify when the service would be restored or the cause of the outage.
About an hour after the first use of the site, YouTube came back on Twitter to announce that everything was back up and running.
