In a world of screens, it is easy to forget that we live on a lush and green planet, populated by various animals.
But the Animal Photographer of the Year contest is here to remind you that nature will always be more impressive and more beautiful than the most sophisticated images.
This year's winner is a portrait of two golden monkeys with a turned-up nose. The photo titled "The Golden Couple" was taken by Dutch photographer Marsel van Oosten in the Qinling Mountains Forest in China, the only habitat for this endangered species.
The photo was selected because it celebrates "the majestic and supernatural presence of nature and reminds us of our crucial role in its protection," said in a statement Sir Michael Dixon, director of the Museum of Natural History .

South African photographer Skye Meaker, 16, won the Young Animal Photographer of the Year award with a picture of a leopard relaxing in Botswana.
The other winning photos in the contest are also impressive. I like this photo of two muddy wasps in Australia.
