Spanish police arrest a wanted drug trafficker who appeared in a video clip after two years of flight

Spanish police arrested one of the country's most wanted men after returning to a police station on Wednesday.

Francisco Tejón, the alleged leader of the Castañas drug gang, arrived at the La Linea de Concepción police station, near the border with Gibraltar, after two years of flight.

"His arrest means that the Policía Nacional has dismantled the highest group of the biggest hashish smuggling gang operating in the Campo de Gibraltar region. "Police activities have been ceaseless, the police have followed the movements of the inner circle of Francisco and managed to get closer to the houses and addresses used," said the national police.

The arrest comes one week after Tejón, also known as Isco, appeared in a video clip of Cuban reggaeton musician Clase A. The Spanish police at the time confirmed that the man seen coming out of A Bentley Continental and party with women in bikinis was, in fact, Tejón.

"It's him, there's no doubt about what we're doing and we've been watching the video for a week now. The video shows that he does not care about anything, because he's not afraid to show himself in public, "the police told the Spanish newspaper, El Mundo.

Officials said the video was intended to show police and rival gang leaders that Tejón was in charge of his gang while he was on the run. They also recognized the house in which the video was shot, where a 2016 raid took place.

The police arrested Antonio, Tejón's brother, four months ago, while he was visiting the mother of his two children.

The two brothers reportedly controlled 80% of the cannabis trade at La Linea de la Concepción at one point, bringing in about $ 34 million last summer alone, when the gang was able to import close to 7,000 pounds of hashish.

The couple smuggled drugs from Morocco and fled to the country of North Africa after the arrest of 30 members of their gang. They eventually returned to the area where the Castañas gang is accused of attacking a hospital in February to release a detainee.
