The star of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", Mariska Hargitay, and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, list their colorful townhouse located in the Upper West Side in Manhattan for $ 10.75 million.
The house of approximately 7,000 square feet extends over six levels and has five or six bedrooms, depending on the configuration. It has an elevator, double height ceilings and a garden and solarium with two terraces. The couple bought the house for $ 10.7 million in 2012, according to the property's records.
The 18-foot-wide home includes a blue aqua staircase and an orange-yellow kitchen. One of the rooms, which belonged to the youngest son of the couple, features electric blue window frames, orange sailboat wallpaper and a bed built to look like a ship, as shown in the list of photos.
Robby Browne, one of the listing agents, said his team had repainted the property and removed some of the color before putting it on the market. "I loved it, but when you sell something, you have to take it off a little bit so that it's not specific," he said. Alexa Lambert of Stribling & Associates, another listing agent, added that she thought buyers would be pleasantly surprised by the yellow cuisine.
"Our house was full of color and dynamism," Hermann said in an email, noting that he and his wife had worked with designer Jeffrey Bilhuber on the set. "The kitchen is a great example, full of life." Mr. Hermann said that he would especially miss a large wall of paint on the blackboard in the kitchen, where they recounted their five years spent at home.
Mr. Hermann said they were selling because their family's needs had changed, but they would stay on the Upper West Side.
