Michael Fishman, who plays D.J. Conner on "The Conners," opened in a new interview about what it's like to do the spin-off without Roseanne Barr.

Only three days after the creation of "The Conners", Michael Fishman explains how unpleasant it is not to have Roseanne Barr in the series.
"It's bittersweet," Fishman, who plays D.J. Conner on the spin-off "Roseanne," told TMZ on Thursday.
"That's really the case," added the 36-year-old actor. "But the problem is that it's there that you have to get together."
When asked if he thought the viewers would continue to connect, the star said that he thought "people will really like the direction in which we are heading."

"So, I think people will grow up with us," he said.
In May, Barr was fired from ABC and his show was abruptly canceled after tweeting a widely considered racist commentary against former Obama's aide, Valerie Jarrett. Once Roseanne, who had already been bleached for the second season, was removed from the network, ABC quickly went to work with the other cast members for "The Conners".

As for the fate of Barr's character in his eponymous show, which was finally revealed on Tuesday?
"I think it's a decision that has been made on the basis of many things happening in this country," Fishman said of the first, which began by telling the public that the French maid was death of an overdose of drugs.
"We have always tried to manage things realistically and honestly."
