"Bohemian Rhapsody" of 20th Century Fox, with earlier Rami Malek like queen man Freddie Mercury, began to project film critics. As more and more of our Oscar winners are free to see the biopic, you will notice that Malek continues to climb the odds of our best actor. Sixteen of our 23 experts now believe that Malek will win his first career Oscar nomination. Three of them even predict that he will be the champion: Edward Douglas (Weekend warrior), Keith Simanton (IMDb) and Tariq Khan (Fox TV).
After seeing the movie two weeks ago, our own Tom O Neil Delighted that "Malek delivers, amazes, dazzles and grabs your heart in a performance that promises to be one of the leading Oscar contenders for Best Actor. Maybe even the winner. With the impetus given to Malek, we must ask ourselves if the Queen's song "Do not Stop Me Now" is turning her head.
Malek currently has a 6/1 rating to win the title of Best Actor, which places him in the fourth place of our expert rankings, behind only Bradley Cooper ("A star is born"), Viggo Mortensen ("Green Paper") and Christian Bale ("Vice"). Other 2019 Oscars contenders include: Ryan Gosling ("First man"), Robert Redford ("The old man and the gun"), Willem Dafoe ("At the gate of eternity") and Ethan Hawke ("First reformed").
Malek is favored by the fact that he plays a real character. The Oscars have a soft spot for actors who embody true characters, with 7 of the last 10 winners of the best actor in this category, including the champion of last year Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill in "Darkest Hour". Like Oldman, Malek changes his voice for the role and even undergoes a striking physical transformation.
Although Freddie Murcury marks Malek's lead role in film, he is also known to viewers as Elliot Alderson in "Mr. Robot. "Malek won the Best Actor Award at the 2016 Emmys and Critics' Choice Awards, and received two consecutive Golden Globes nominations (2016-17)." Bohemian Rhapsody "opens November 2nd in the United States.
