EAST MORICHES, Long Island (WABC) –

A small plane was found on a Long Island road on Saturday after authorities announced that he had left the runway at a nearby airfield.

It arrived around 12:30 pm by Lufker Airport at East Moriches. The Federal Aviation Administration reports that a PA-28 Piper has landed and left the runway on the adjacent Montauk road, with two people on board.

According to Suffolk County Police, Nedie Seidu, 30, of Manhattan was flying from Republic Airport to East Farmingdale when he attempted to land at Lufker Airport without being able to stop the plane on the runway.

The single engine aircraft crossed the Montauk Expressway and struck a panel damaging a wing and propeller, before coming to a standstill.

The aircraft remained standing and no one was injured.

Lufker Airport is a small airfield and Montauk Highway is a two lane highway crossing this part of East Long Island.

The tail number of the aircraft indicates that it belongs to a Long Island Flying School and an aircraft leasing company. A man who answered the phone refused to comment and hung up.

The FAA was called to the scene to investigate. The Montauk Highway was closed after the incident but has since reopened.
