Ian Wilson and his brother, Jack, will roam the dangerous regions of the Cambodian jungle in search of the MH370, after claiming to have seen the plane on Google Maps.
The Malaysia Airlines flight disappeared on March 8, 2014 after leaving the Kuala Lumpur airport, carrying a total of 239 passengers and crew members.
Ian and Jack landed in Cambodia on Tuesday, with plans to hike in the Cambodian jungle in search of the missing plane.
But an insider warned that the life of the brothers could be in danger.
Addressing the Daily Star, he explained how illegal loggers with knives lived in the area and regularly used methamphetamine, a class A drug.
They could potentially sneak up and attack foreign men, viewing them as a threat.
In an email to Ian, the insider said: "The real danger is not so much the terrain as the illegal loggers who operate in the area and who would not be happy to see men Whites roam with recording equipment.
"I do not want you to find yourself in a potentially dangerous situation, be it in the jungle or with these guys, who mainly use methamphetamine to keep them awake and who are armed with big knives, at the very least."
On Friday, Ian and Jack left Chrok La Eang to visit the Cambodian jungle in search of the missing flight of Malaysia Airlines.
This comes after Ian found an image of Google Maps showing a structure resembling an airplane, claiming that it was the Boeing 777-200.
The body of the aircraft was about 70 meters long, slightly longer than the standard Boeing 777s, which are 63.7 meters long.
Addressing Cambodia on Thursday, Ian told the Daily Star Online: "The first night of our stay in Phnom Penh, and earlier, we headed west, to a place in Kampong Speu, where we are now.
"At dawn, we leave for a place close to the waterfalls of Chrok La Eang.It is difficult to see a real route to get there by the roads, but it is designated as a place where tourists can go then we will find it.
"Then from what everyone guesses, it's probably as close as anyone else has been to the site.
"We have a tent and we'll be at home for a night or two unless it's easier than I think, now there are lightning and thunderstorms."
Some aviation experts believe that the mysterious image of Google Maps was simply a plane flying in the air.
A Chinese satellite company – Chang Guang Satellite Technology – has made it to the site, but said that no plane had been discovered and that a "professional research team in the field was necessary to assert his right to rest ".
