ATLANTA – Some areas of northern Georgia will experience the coldest temperatures of the last six months of the night, Saturday and Sunday morning
Temperatures will reach 30 degrees lower in the mountains of northeastern Georgia – where there is a freeze alert on Saturday night, with temperatures reaching 30 and 30 and 40 percent around the Atlanta subway.
"I think Sunday morning will be our coldest in Atlanta since April 17, about six months ago," said Meteorologist of Severe Weather Team 2, Monahan.
A freeze warning will come into effect at midnight for Fannin, Gilmer, Towns and Union Counties.
Severe Weather Meteorologist Kate Walls will have the final say on what to expect on Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat after the game.
Fortunately, we can expect the gloomy weather to dissipate by Sunday afternoon, giving way to a windy and cold afternoon with peaks in the 60s.
The strong north wind will make the cold chill of your Sunday morning. We are talking about wind chills in the 20s and 30s in New Georgia! I clock how long it lasts after the match. pic.twitter.com/yGHYHLElMb
