Selma Blair is open about her health, revealing on social media that she has multiple sclerosis.
The actress, aged 46, shared the news Saturday on Instagram, writing an emotional message about her diagnosis. She wrote that she felt empowered to speak in public after a wardrobe for her next Netflix series, "Another Life."
"The brilliant costume designer #Allisaswanson not only designs the pieces (my character, Harper Glass) to wear on this new #Netflix show, but she gently takes my legs in my pants, covers me over the head, buttons my shoulder to stabilize me ", wrote Blair. "I have multi-sclerosis."
She then thanked her close friends for their love and support, naming Cruel Intentions co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar, husband Freddie Prinze Jr., and producer Noreen Halpern.
She also wrote that, although her diagnosis was diagnosed in August, she "probably had this incurable disease for at least 15 years". According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, more than 2.3 million people worldwide are affected by MS, a condition of the immune system that attacks the brain and spine.
"I am at the heart of the action but I hope to give hope to others and even to myself," added the actress. "You can not get help unless you ask, it can be overwhelming at first, you want to sleep, you want to sleep, so I do not have any answers. I want to sleep but I am a person to come and I want my life to be full in one way or another I want to play again with my son I want to walk in the street and ride on horseback, I have MS and I'm fine.
