Icelandair Flight 688 left the Orlando International Airport on Friday night bound for Reykjavik, Iceland.
The airline confirmed that the aircraft was flying over Canada when the pilots noticed a crack in one of the windows of the cockpit.
"According to the procedures in force, they went to a nearby airport in Bagotville (Canada)," Icelandair said on Twitter.
The airline said it was hosting the 155 passengers and seven crew members present in the flight and was providing a hotel overnight.
"All passengers have been driven to a hotel and a flight is scheduled tonight to drive them to Reykjavik airport," Icelandair told Spectrum News. "Passengers whose final destination is not Reykajvik have been the subject of a new reservation."
Harrison Hove, professor of audiovisual journalism at the University of Florida, was among the passengers of the flight.
