The Central Coast Mariners have offered Usain Bolt a full-time gambling contract after impressing at a lawsuit, said his agent Ricky Simms at ESPN.
Bolt, 32, scored a brace at a training match last weekend but did not participate in the Mariners 1-1 draw with Brisbane Roar on Sunday. News Corp Australia has announced that the eight gold medalist was in Melbourne considering its options.
However, the sailors officially offered him conditions, Simms telling ESPN: "I can confirm that Usain has received a contract from Central Coast Mariners".
Mariners' general manager, Shaun Mielekamp, reportedly presented the contract offer to Bolt's management this weekend. After the player has rejected Valletta FC's two-year bid, he will now consider playing in the A-League.
After the match, Central Coast coach Mike Mulvey did his best to dispel rumors of an impending deal for Bolt, openly doubting that the sprint king deserves a starting spot.
"You are looking at our front line today and wondering if it could occupy one of those positions, do not you?" Mulvey said. "I really appreciate the importance of this story to the rest of the world. You only talk about speculation, I do not know anything about what you are talking about and that's the honest truth."
