Afghan officials said a roadside bomb killed at least 11 civilians in Nangarhar province in the east of the country.

Attahullah Khogyani, spokesman for the governor of the province, said the victims of Sunday's blast included six children. The attack took place on the second day of the Afghan legislative elections, which were extended due to Saturday's attacks and technical problems that resulted in delays of several hours.

Nobody immediately claimed the attack. The Taliban and a member of the Islamic State are both active in Nangarhar. Afghan civilians are often killed by roadside bombs aimed at targeting security forces.
